Police Arrest Murder Suspect in Gentlemen’s Club Shooting

Incident Date / Time: October 29, 2012 at 2:52 a.m.

Location: Flash Dancers, 4202 West Cayuga Street

Victim #1 (Deceased): Cornelius R. Dix, B/M, DOB: 9/5/1986, 3902 North Suwanee, Tampa

Victim #2: Jose M. Ortiz, H/M, DOB: 2/1/1992, 6001 South Dale Mabry Highway Apt 1, Tampa

Details:

Tampa Police Detectives have charged a suspect with the October shooting at a gentlemen’s club that left one man dead and another critically wounded. During an extensive investigation, homicide detectives developed leads which led them to Randiel Avila-Carbajal. On November 14th, officers located Avila-Carbajal inside of a North Tampa home. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with murder along with several other felony crimes. Jose M. Ortiz, the second man who was seriously wounded during the incident is still being treated at a local hospital for his injuries. Detectives are still actively investigating this case.

Avila-Carbajal has a violent history and was currently on bond for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm when he committed the October 29th shooting.

Details:
The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating a homicide at the bar Flash Dancers located at 4202 West Cayuga Street. Two males were shot during a disturbance at this location. Victim #1 is deceased and Victim #2 is in serious condition. Homicide detectives are on-scene continuing the investigation.

Detectives are still actively investigating this incident. There are no further details to release at this time.
