Police Investigating Early Morning Hit & Run Traffic Crash

INCIDENT TYPE/SUBTYPE: Hit and Run
LOCATION: SAN CARLOS ST W / DALE MABRY HW S
Victim #1 was identified as W/M Michael Madson, DOB: 02/18/65, 616 11th SW, Largo FL, 33770. He sustained "bumps and bruises" & was transported to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.
Victim #2 was identified as W/M, Craig Walls, 1448 Lafayette, LaSalle, Illinois, 61301. He was treated at the scene and released.
The suspect driver was identified as a Hispanic Male, with dark hair, small statue. The suspect vehicle is a 4-dr, silver Mitsubishi, FL tag.
Stripe- A -Lot Paving is a sub contractor for the City of Tampa and they were striping the crosswalk with a white paint machine at S. Dale Mabry and W. San Carlos Street. The suspect, driving southbound on S. Dale Mabry Hwy in a 4-dr silver Mitsubishi was approaching W. San Carlos Street in the curb lane. The suspect vehicle left the roadway, drove over a curb and struck two workers and the paint machine. The driver never stopped and continued southbound on S Dale Mabry Hwy.
One of the other workers, who witnessed the incident, chased after the Mitsubishi in his work truck. The suspect drove south on S. Dale Mabry Hwy & then west onto W. Palmira Ave. The worker followed, but soon lost sight of the suspect vehicle. He was able to get a partial tag of the fleeing car. Tampa Police and Tampa Fire responded to the scene.
