Police Investigating Fatal Weekend Shooting

VICTIM: Jynasis Ellis, DOB: 3/21/86, B/F, 1506 Deauville Drive, Tampa (passenger killed)

VICTIM: Malik Majied, DOB: 3/3/91, B/M, 3203 East Jean St Tampa FL (driver stable condition)

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 3/25/2012, 3:20 AM

LOCATION: Nick’s Gyro & Subs, 3501 East Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: B/M, 6'0 baseball cap/scarf around face / dark clothing

DETAILS: The suspect approached the victim’s vehicle in the restaurant parking lot and fired into the driver’s side window. The female passenger was shot and died at the scene. The driver was shot, but is now in stable condition at a local hospital. The driver managed to drive one block to N. 34th Street and East Hillsborough Avenue where an off-duty Tampa Police officer was getting gas. He immediately began CPR on the female passenger and called for back-up and an ambulance. Detectives are working multiple active leads on this case. They have determined this is not a random act of violence. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Tampa Police Department at 813 231-6130.

Previous Release

The Tampa Police Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred at 3501 E. Hillsborough Ave. A 26 year old female and a 21 year old male were both shot by an unknown suspect while sitting in their vehicle. The female victim has expired and the male has life threatening injuries. Detectives are following leads and attempting to notify next of kin.
