Police Involved Traffic Crash

At 4:48 a.m., two Tampa Police Officers were riding together in a marked police car driving south on 30th Street North. A red Mazda 6, being driven by a valet for "Dunn's River" made an improper left hand turn into the path of the Marked Police Vehicle while attempting to pull into the parking lot of Dunn's River, located at 11154 North 30th Street. The Officer operating the marked police vehicle attempted to stop, but was unable and struck the Mazda on the passenger side. Both Officers responded to TGH (one by ambulance and one by police car). The valet driver of the Mazda was transported to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition with a skull fracture. At 9:02 p.m. the driver was still critical but showing signs of improvement. Both Officers were treated and released from Tampa General Hospital.

The name of the valet driver and Officers involved in the crash will be available during normal business hours on Monday from the Public Information Office of the Tampa Police Department.
