Police Officers Locate Stolen Vehicle with Child Inside

Details: The mother left her child in the car with it running while she ran into the Floridian Grocery at Rome Avenue and Main Street. The suspect took the car with the child inside, and abandoned it a short distance away in the 1300 block of Green Street. An officer searching for the 2003 black Nissan Murano, found the vehicle with the child safely inside. The child was playing with his Sponge Bob toy and honking the horn. There is no suspect description at this time, as the only known witness is a three year old. Crime scene technicians are processing the vehicle for any evidence. The mother is extremely upset, and has indicated to the officers on the scene that she is not interested in doing any interviews this evening. If anyone has any information, please call Tampa Police.
Tampa Police dispatch received a 911 call at 10:10 p.m. about a stolen vehicle with a two to three year old child in the car. The car was stolen from the Floridian Grocery at Rome Avenue and Main Street. A BOLO was placed for the Nissan Murano. A Tampa Police corporal, who was searching for the vehicle, found it with the child safely inside in the 1300 block of Green Street. The child is unharmed. Detectives are currently interviewing the parties involved. More information will be released once it is available, including names. There is no suspect in custody. A description will be released once it is available. This information is preliminary, as this is obviously an active investigation.
