PERSON OF INTEREST DESCRIPTION: 35-45 year-old black male, possibly over 6 feet tall, 240-250 lbs, muscular build, light complexion, bald, clean-shaven, with a weathered/worn appearance.  The person of interest was last seen wearing a red/white striped collared shirt.

DETAILS:

Detectives have worked with witnesses to create a composite sketch of a person who was in the area at the time of a fatal shooting. On October 2, 2014 at approximately 8:19 p.m., two unidentified suspects forced their way into a home at 904 North Bay Street.  One of the suspects was armed with a gun and immediately opened fire inside the home.  Tyrone Speller, a resident at the house, was struck twice.  Another resident, Lydia Huggins, was shot once.  She was transported to Tampa General Hospital where she died from her injuries.

While investigators believe the suspects targeted the house, the woman murdered was an innocent victim caught in the gun violence.

The victim’s mother, Eddie Mae Walker, is declining media interviews at this time.  However, she provided a quote to the public regarding the loss of her daughter.  Mrs. Walker shared, ”my daughter’s death is weighing heavy on my mind.  It is hard to even talk about what happened.  Still, I hope that someone who has information about this tragic incident will speak up and help me get justice for Lydia.”

Detectives are urging anyone who has information about this person of interest or the home invasion to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS(8477) or text "CSTB plus your tip" to 274637 (CRIMES).  Anonymous tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000 in cash.
