Tampa Police  are investigating a homicide that apparently resulted from a road rage  incident that occurred while a truck and car were stopped at a traffic  light.


LOCATION: The confrontation and homicide occurred at  the intersection of Fowler Avenue and I-275. The truck in which the fatally  injured man was a passenger ultimately stopped at W 109th Avenue and N  Ashley Street.


DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 4, at approximately  11:22 a.m.


DECEASED: Gilbert Serna, 56 (6/22/1961) Next of  kin has been notified.


DETAILS: At approximately 11:22 a.m.  a Dodge Ram truck and a black BMW were both stopped on Fowler Avenue at  I-275. Both were in the westbound lane. The BMW was on the right side of  the truck.  The driver of the BMW got out of his car to verbally confront Serna, who remained in the truck. The driver of the BMW inflicted  upper body trauma on Serna.

The driver of the truck attempted  to follow the BMW as it headed west on Fowler. Ultimately the truck stopped  at the corner of W 109th Avenue and N Ashley Street. TPD performed CPR  on Serna and he was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his  injuries.

The driver of the BMW has not yet been located. The  investigation continues.
