Santa Claus is Coming To Town! City of Tampa?s Annual Tree Lighting, Parade & Festival - December 6 & 7, 2013

Ring in the holiday season this weekend at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa!

Tampa's Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Market is Friday, December 6 beginning at 6 p.m. There will be continuous entertainment on the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority Stage including Carl von dem Bussche and the high energy sounds of the Late Night Brass.

Tampa’s Christmas Market will be offering unique, one-of-a-kind, must-have gift ideas handmade jewelry, arts and crafts, ornaments, and other holiday-themed items and foods.

The Christmas Market is open Friday, December 6 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 7 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Magic 94.9 FM’s Keith Connors will be on hand for the Secret Santa $1,000 Giveaway, and there will moon bounces for the kids as well as a herd of Chick-Fil-A Santa cows. At approximately 8 p.m., Mayor Buckhorn will push the button and light the 30 foot tree!

But the fun doesn’t end there! Immediately following the lighting of the tree will be a free showing the of the holiday classic movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation starring Chevy Chase (and the entire Griswold family).

Concession will be available throughout the event and Tampa’s Downtown on Ice will be open until 10 p.m. Blankets and low back chairs are allowed. Alcohol is prohibited.

Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday, December 7 during 31st Annual Santa Fest and the Rough Riders Holiday Parade presented by the Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc. and the City of Tampa.

The Holiday Parade steps off at 11 a.m. and features colorful floats, marching bands, dance troops and of course that merry old elf, Santa Claus. After the parade, everyone is invited to enjoy a day of holiday activities while listening to continuous holiday entertainment on the Tampa Expressway Authority stage. There will be interactive games, inflatables, rock climbing wall, make-n-take crafts, giveaways and free photos with Santa.

The Holiday Day Parade route begins at Morgan and Madison streets. Heads west on Madison Street then turns north onto Ashley Drive and ends at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The best, unobstructed viewing is along Madison Street from Pierce Street to Tampa Street. (Holiday Parade map attached).

Parade viewers are encouraged to arrive by 9 a.m. for ease in parking. Suggested parking options:
