Shooting at 17th St N / Ybor Ave

Tampa police are currently on the scene of a shooting at 17th St. N. and Ybor Ave. Two juvenile victims have been transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim is in extremely critical condition. This is an active scene. Lt. Ubinas is on scene to assist the media. No suspect information available at this time.

UPDATE ON EAST TAMPA SHOOTING

WHO: Two Tampa teens were shot in a car Monday evening. A 17 year old was killed. A 14 year old received non-life threatening injuries. At this time Tampa Police are not releasing the names of either victim.

WHERE: The shooting occurred at 3615 Potter St. The two teens who were shot exited the car at the corner of 21st Avenue and 17th Street. The car, a maroon Volkswagen Passat, was found approximately one block away in the 21st block of Ybor Street, with bullet holes on the right side.

WHEN: The shooting occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m.

WHAT: There were five people in the car. Two were struck by gunfire coming from outside the car.

DETAILS: Tampa Police have interviewed the passengers and driver of the car and have some very promising leads. This was not a random shooting.  We believe the shooter and victims were known to each other. No arrests have been made at this time.

We do not expect any additional updates tonight.
