Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Department joins Citywide Strike Against Zika Virus

This notice is archived content and this information may no longer be accurate.

In recent weeks, Tampa’s Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management Department has proactively been identifying areas of opportunities to protect Tampa’s citizens and visitors against the Zika virus. Stagnant water, a haven for mosquitoes, can easily collect in open garbage and recycling carts. Tampa residents are encouraged to keep the lids of garbage and recycling carts closed and return them to covered areas as soon as possible after collection service is provided.  City of Tampa customers with broken carts are reminded to contact the City of Tampa Utilities Consolidated Call Center at (813) 274-8811 for repair/replacement.

City of Tampa Solid Waste customers are reminded of their ability to drop off up to 4 tires and many other unwanted items, at no extra charge, at the McKay Bay Refuse-to-Energy facility (114 South 34th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605).  Disposal at McKay Bay Refuse-to-Energy facility will require at least one form of ID showing a street address: Florida driver's license, Florida vehicle registration, or utility bill.
