DETAILS:

Sergeant Thomas Miller observed two vehicles racing over the westbound hump in excess of 100mph, while he and his squad were monitoring the Courtney Campbell Causeway as part of an ongoing racing initiative. The suspect tried to avoid hitting a third uninvolved vehicle, however, he lost control, struck the guardrail and started traveling down the shoulder at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Miller's police cruiser was in the suspect's path and he attempted to accelerate to lessen the impact to his vehicle. The suspect's vehicle struck the police cruiser in the left rear quarter panel. The suspect refused medical care and was transported to booking for Reckless Driving and Unlawful Racing.

Sergeant Miller received minor bumps and bruises as a result of the crash. He was treated at a local hospital and released back to full duty.
