Suspect Steals Ambulance

Defendant: Credit, Hubert Lee, B/M, DOB: 9/13/72

Charged With: Auto Burglary and Grand Theft Auto

Details: The personnel of Transcare Ambulance responded to a medical call at 312 W. Genesee St. As they were attending to the patient inside of the residence, they heard the engine of the ambulance engage. As they looked outside, they observed the ambulance drive off by an unknown subject, with the emergency lights activated.

The GPS unit tracked the ambulance traveling northbound on N. Florida Ave. at Chelsea St. The ambulance then traveled southbound on N. Highland St. Officer's then located the ambulance with the emergency lights still activated as it traveled south on N. Tampa St. Officer's were able to stop the ambulance at N. Tampa St and E. 26th Ave. The suspect was arrested without incident and there was no damage to the ambulance. The suspect was arrested at 10:32 p.m.

The suspect stated that, "I got beat up by 4 guys, I saw the ambulance and I was going to drive myself to the hospital." The suspect did have a puncture wound to his head and he was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
