The City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management is proud to unveil the 2018 3R’s Art Contest Winners and the Recycling Collection trucks featuring the winning art designs.

The annual contest received over art and poetry 100 submissions from students at the elementary, middle and high school grade levels from various local school and after school programs, within the City of Tampa limits.    The contest is an outreach priority of the Department intended to educate Tampa’s students and residents on the importance of recycling right, through creative art and poetry.  A record-breaking 600 votes were cast by Tampa voters both on-line and in person.  The first place winning art designs for each grade level will be officially unveiled on City Recycling trucks on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. on Franklin St. in front of the Tampa Municipal Office Building located at 306 E. Jackson St.  City staff, contest winners, art teachers and principals from Villa Madonna Catholic School, Howard W. Blake High School and the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center will be on hand for the celebration.

“We are proud of these talented students who, through their creativity, help us communicate the importance of recycling right. Placing unacceptable items into our carts or dumpsters  results in costly contamination of recyclable items and negates the efforts of participants who recycle carefully and responsibly.” said Mark Wilfalk, Director.
