Tampa Arson Task Force Investigating 3 Arson Fires

Fire #1: 5:47 am, 3809 North Highland Avenue - vacant home destroyed
Fire #2: 6:27 am, 3810 North Tampa Street- minor damage to vacant home
Fire #3: 6:29 am, 3802 North Arlington Avenue - minor damage to vacant home
When officers responded to the first fire, a witness reported seeing a possible suspect walking briskly away from the blaze. Officers immediately set up a perimeter utilizing K-9, Air Service, Patrol and plain clothes Rapid Offender Control officers known as ROC. The perimeter stretched from West Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to East Floribraska Avenue and North Florida Avenue to North Highland Avenue. Officers searched the area for two and half hours before breaking down the perimeter.
When the second fire was reported at 6:27 am, Tampa's Arson Task Force was activated. It includes Tampa Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal and the Tampa Police Department's Homicide Squad. At this time, all three cases are under investigation. All three of the homes were vacant. There were no injuries.
