TAMPA DETECTIVES WORK TO IDENTIFY SHOOTER

Tampa Police responded to a shooting in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 9th. Detectives are releasing video of the suspect to see if a member of our community may be able to help identify him.

 Incident Date/Time:  3/9/2019 at 5:31 AM  

Location:  1600 E. 8th Ave

Incident Type:  Aggravated Battery/Petit Theft

Suspect Info:  B/M, Approximately 40-50 years old with long dreads, 5'10”- 6', last seen wearing a red, black, yellow and green Rastafarian style beanie hat, dark colored jacket, black pants, and white and black sneakers/shoes

Suspect's Vehicle:  Black unknown make and model bicycle with white writing on it and a mounted light in between the handle bars.

Details:  The victim is one of the sales clerks at the 7-11 in Ybor, located at 1535 E. 7th Ave. Just prior to the shooting the victim was advised by a co-worker that the suspect just walked out with two packs of cigarettes without paying for them. The victim gave chase and followed the suspect who fled on bicycle. The victim caught up with the suspect directly in front of 1600 E. 8th Ave where a confrontation ensued. The victim was shot by the suspect, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect could not immediately be located. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Tampa Police detectives are releasing video of the suspect in the hopes that a member of the community will recognize him and help us identify him.  Anyone with information that may lead to the identity of this criminal is urged to contact Crimestoppers of Tampa Bay at 800.873.TIPS
