Tampa Fire & Tampa Police Working a Three-Alarm Fire

On May 21st 2011, at approximately 5:10pm, a fire originated by unknown means at 1713 E. Columbus. The building quickly became engulfed, and the fire began to spread towards the east. The fire passed through the vacant lot at 1715 and into the building at 1717 E. Columbus before it was contained. Early indications are that both structures were unoccupied at the time. 1713 is a vacant home and 1717 is a storage building for the business at 1719 E. Columbus (MGQ & Assoc.). Arson investigators are attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
Columbus Blvd. is closed eastbound from 16th st. to 19th St. If traveling from Nebraska and require a route to the east, please use Palm Ave. or 26th Ave. The road is expected to be closed through 8pm.
