Tampa Police and US Marshals Florida Fugitive Task Force Arrest Homicide Suspect

WHEN: 8/16/2011, 3:15 a.m.

ARREST LOCATION: 2303 132nd Avenue East, Tampa

VICTIM: Nelson Carillo, H/M, 01/02/1962, 4008 East Paris Street, Tampa

SUSPECT: Charles Edward Chambers, B/M, 07/13/1975, 1905 Annona Avenue East, Tampa

CHARGES: 2nd Degree Murder

DETAILS: On June 29, the victim was found deceased in his residence from multiple stab wounds. Crime Scene Technicians collected blood found at the scene and sent it to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for analysis. On August 11, FDLE obtained a hit, which identified the suspect. The suspect also pawned a piece of the victim’s jewelry. The TPD Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the United States Marshal Service located the suspect on August 15. He was arrested without incident and transported to TPD Headquarters where he was uncooperative with detectives.

June 29, 2011 Release

Details: Tampa Police Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation at 4008 East Paris Street. Detectives and Forensic Crime Unit personnel are processing the scene for evidence. The investigation is in it preliminary stages and more details will be forthcoming as they become available. Homicide Detectives are requesting the assistance of the community and the media in locating a vehicle that may have some connection to this case. If located please call Tampa Police Communications at 813-231-6130 and please do not approach the vehicle and/or any occupants as it may pose a danger to do so.
