Tampa Police and US Marshals Task Force Arrest Murder Suspect

SUSPECT: Robert Thomas, 2/27/78, B/M
CHARGES: 2ND Degree Murder
VICTIM: Dwayne Martin, 2/18/1963, W/M, 3201 West Price Avenue, Tampa
LOCATION: 3201West Price Avenue, Tampa

The victim and the suspect were drinking together in the victim's home on the night of the murder when they began arguing. The suspect attacked the victim and strangled him. Today FDLE provided TPD's Homicide Detectives with a positive DNA match for the suspect. The DNA came from blood found on the victim and in and in his home on the night of the murder. The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force located the suspect at his home today and he was taken into custody without incident.

Death Investigation Ruled a Homicide

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: July 16, 2013 at 9:42 p.m.
LOCATION: 3201West Price Avenue, Tampa
VICTIM: Dwayne Martin, DOB: 2/18/1963, W/M, 3201 West Price Avenue, Tampa

A person walking on Price Avenue last night noticed the victim's front door was open and walked up to the house. The individual looked inside and spotted the victim dead in his home. The person then called 911. The cause of death was not obvious, but there were suspicious circumstances that led Tampa Police detectives to investigate it as a possible homicide. At 4:15pm this afternoon, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office completed the autopsy and officially ruled the case a homicide. Anonymous tips leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
