TAMPA POLICE ARREST SECOND TEEN IN CRAIGSLIST HOMICIDE

Tampa Police late Wednesday arrested a second teen in the murder of a Pasco man.  The man and his son arranged to meet with the suspects via Craigslist in an attempt to sell a dirt bike to them.

DEFENDANT 1: Dontae Johnson, 17, (DOB: 03-30-1999), has been charged with first-degree felony murder, robbery, and discharge of a firearm in public. His photo is attached.

DEFENDANT 2: Ramontrae Williams, 16 (DOB: 09-15-2000), has been charged with first-degree felony murder and robbery.

VICTIM: James Beck, 44, of Holiday (Pasco County)

DATE/TIME: The shooting occurred at approximately 7:03 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31. Williams was arrested late Tuesday. Johnson was arrested late Wednesday.

LOCATION: The shooting occurred at N 18th Street and E 24th Avenue.

DETAILS: James Beck's son posted a notice on Craigslist to sell his dirt bike. After several communications with a potential buyer, he arranged to meet with a the teens in Tampa. Both he and his father traveled to Tampa with the dirt bike in the truck bed.

They met with the two defendants and it soon became clear that the suspects intended to rob the victims. As Beck was attempting to leave, Dontae Johnson shot Beck and Williams took the dirt bike. Beck died of his injuries.

Tampa Police were able to identify and locate Williams Tuesday night and found the dirt bike near Williams' residence. Detectives quickly identified Johnson as the second suspect and by the end of the day were able to place him at the scene of the shooting, leading to his arrest.
