Incident Date/Time:  2/10/2017 at 3:36 AM     Report #: 2017-72360

Location:  6705 15th Street N

Suspect Arrested:  Giovantae Lucas, B/M, DOB 5/22/97

On 2/7/17, the victim agreed to purchase a MacBook laptop computer from a seller using the on-line seller’s app, “LetGo.” The seller asked the victim to meet him at 6705 N. 15th Street (vacant). When the victim arrived, he was met by a male who pointed a gun at him, grabbed him by the arm, and led him to the back yard of the vacant residence. Once in the back yard, the victim was met by a second man, also armed with a gun. The victim was ordered to the ground, at which time his cell phone, wallet, watch, shoes, and money were stolen. The suspects placed their guns in the victim’s mouth and ear, threatened to kill his family, then ran north. Detectives interviewed the victim and determined the seller had a username of “Gunther”, and was actively selling various other items.

Lucas resides less than 1/10 of one mile from the crime scene. Detectives drafted a search warrant for his residence at 1505 Hillside Drive, Apt A. At the time the search warrant was executed, Lucas was not home. The apartment was searched and a Rohm .22 caliber revolver was found in Lucas’ bedroom along with a large quantity of ammunition, multiple identification cards, and credit cards in the names of various people. During the search, four other firearms were recovered, one of which was stolen (2/16 - HCSO). These four firearms were a Taurus .357 revolver, a Cobra 9mm, a 12 gauge sawed off shotgun with the serial number ground off, and a .410 shotgun. Interviews were conducted with Lucas' mother and father. Alfonso Ammons B/M (DOB 1/17/1970) was arrested at the scene for being a felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.

As the search warrant was being executed, Tampa Police officers were responding to a call of an auto burglary in progress just blocks away. Air Service, ROC, and patrol responded. There they located Lucas and took him into custody. Detectives also consider Lucas as a person of interest in a robbery to an individual that occurred earlier in the day at N. Nebraska Avenue and E. Linebaugh Avenue.

Giovantae Lucas was charged with Armed Robbery, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Battery on a LEO, Auto Burglary, Grand Theft, Obstruction, VOP - Battery on a LEO,  and Possession of Marijuana.

Alfonso Ammons was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Short Barreled Shotgun, and VOP - Felon in Possession of a Firearm (probation began on 1/18/17).
