Homicide detectives from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Tampa Police Department executed a search warrant at 9:30pm on 11/28/12 and recovered critical evidence in the murder of the CIS security officer and both ATM robberies. The investigation first focused on Larry Brown late Monday, 11/26/12. Through a combination of witness interviews and investigative work detectives learned Brown stole a firearm on the day of the murder. He was arrested on Tuesday, 11/27/12 for the theft of the weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. At that time, he was questioned in connection with the security officer murder, but was not charged with the death. Through physical evidence and witness statements, detectives determined that Brown committed two ATM robberies at gunpoint on Friday, 11/23/12 and Tuesday 11/27/12. Brown is being held in the Juvenile Assessment Center. The Tampa Police Department will request the State Attorney's Office to charge Brown as an adult.
