Tampa Police Arrested a juvenile who brandished a gun near Middleton High

On 4/12/2011, Tampa Police Officers were dispatched to 30th Street / Emma in reference to a juvenile who brandished a firearm in front of a young girl. The subject was last walking west on Emma Street. Officers attempted to make contact with the subject, but he fled on foot through Middleton High School. Officers observed the subject remove a firearm from his waistband and began running through the campus with the firearm in his right hand. Air Service responded and they obtained a visual of the suspect while fleeing from the police.
The subject entered a residence in attempt to elude the police, but he was eventually taken into custody without incident. The subject admitted to officers that he was in possession of a handgun.
The defendant who is currently on probation was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Firearm on School Property, Improper Exhibition of a Firearm, Minor in Possession of a Firearm, Destruction of Evidence and Resist Arrest Without Violence. In addition his probation was violated.
