Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor and her Executive Staff Promote 7 of TPD's Finest

Lieutenant Yvette Flynn will serve as a lieutenant of District 3 patrol, and will oversee patrol operations in Ybor City and the Downtown area. During her 13-year career, she has worked most recently as the Sergeant over homicide investigations and sex crimes and family violence. Lieutenant Flynn's occupations prior to joining TPD as a child protective counselor and school guidance counselor gave her a unique perspective supervising the sensitive cases in the sex crimes and family violence unit. She has also served in ROC, QUAD, patrol and as an undercover narcotics detective.
Lieutenant Flynn has a passion for stopping the cycle of domestic violence. She serves on the board of the Spring of Tampa Bay.
The newly appointed Spanish speaking lieutenant earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Hunter College in New York and her Master of Science Degree in school guidance and counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She and her husband, a Tampa Police Sergeant, have five children.
