The “Role Call with Chief Brian Dugan” podcast will feature last year’s grant recipients throughout June.
Tampa, Fla. (June 3, 2019)— The Tampa Police Department is utilizing seized drug money and contraband to fund its Community Investment Grant. For the second year, qualified non-profit organizations can apply online for the grant between June 3 and July 31.
Potential grant applicants can tune in to the department’s podcast—“Role Call with Chief Brian Dugan”— every Wednesday in June to gain an edge on the application process. The weekly podcast series will highlight the work of the 2018 grant recipients and how the four organizations used the grant to make a difference in Tampa.
The goal of the Community Investment Grant is to provide assistance to non-profit organizations that are engaged in projects or programs that benefit Tampa citizens. The Chief and his staff will award four grants, totaling $10,000 to local charitable organizations in September.
“This community grant opportunity has the potential to inspire organizations to think of new ways that they can help prevent crime in our neighborhoods,” said Chief Dugan. “We also recognize that some organizations are just simply in need of dollars to continue programs that make sense from a public safety standpoint.”
Organizations must have a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) designation in order to apply for the Community Investment Grant. They also have to meet additional criteria, which includes using the awarded funds in a manner that supports the police department’s mission to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life through a cooperative partnership with all citizens.
