Tampa Police Department Recruiting Auxiliary Officers
Volunteers selected for the Auxiliary/Reserve Force are eligible to receive monetary compensation while working to keep the public safe.
The Tampa Police Department is offering 30 scholarships to men and women who are interested in an exciting part-time career in law enforcement. Members of the Auxiliary/Reserve Force receive a chance to earn a minimum of $25 per hour for working special events and other paid assignments in exchange for volunteering 20 hours per month with the department.
The police department will provide applicants who are selected for this specialty unit with a full scholarship to attend Hillsborough Community College’s Reserve Academy. The 28-week academy is held Monday through Thursday, 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. plus nine Saturday training days, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. During the part-time training academy, participants will gain first-hand knowledge on defensive driving, personal safety, firearms and investigative techniques.
The Auxiliary/Reserve Force is open to U.S. citizens who are at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Florida driver’s license. Candidates must also pass a background investigation.
