Tampa Police Detectives Looking for Shooting Suspect

DATE/TIME: Feb-02-2019 (Sat.) at 2:03 AM

LOCATION: 1930 N DALE MABRY HWY

SUSPECT:  Hispanic male 30-40, 5’7”-5’9” heavy set, last wearing dark t-shirt, blue jeans

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE:  White female, 20’s, approximately 5’, straight blonde or light brown hair.

Just after 2:00 AM on 02/02/19, the victim witnessed a red pickup truck in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven occupied by an unknown male who was reportedly assaulting an unidentified female. The victim attempted to verbally intervene in defense of the female. The suspect then approached the victim and tried to punch him, but missed. The victim punched the suspect in self-defense as the altercation escalated. The suspect went to his truck, retrieved a gun, approached the victim again, and shot the victim in the left shoulder before fleeing the scene in a red, newer model Ford pickup truck. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are concerned for the safety of the unidentified female and are attempting to locate her as well as identify the suspect.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
