Details:

Tampa police have arrested Jimmy Lee Cruz and charged him with the murder of Walter “JJ” Revear. Detectives received a tip identifying Cruz as the suspect who fled from the Interstate Lounge on May 18, 2011 around 1:12 am. They obtained a search warrant for Cruz’s home at 10334 Chadbourne Drive, but when the SWAT team entered the home it was unoccupied. Detectives started to communicate with Cruz’s attorney, Michael Gonzalez, right after searching the home. They successfully negotiated his surrender. The incident started with a large crowd arguing at the Interstate Lounge on Nebraska Avenue just after 1 am. The crowd entered the parking lot where the disagreement continued. The victim was not involved in the argument, but was trying to break up the disturbance. The suspect went to his vehicle, took out a gun and then shot the victim. He fled from the scene in his red Dodge Charger.
