ARREST DATE/TIME: February 26, 2014 at 3:03 p.m.
LOCATION: 360 South Congress Avenue, West Palm Beach
VICTIM: Female, 6-years-old at the time of the incident
SUSPECT: David Francis-Brewster Mace, DOB: 05-09-78
CHARGE: Capital Sexual Battery
Tampa Police detectives made immediate contact with the victim's family in June 2012 after receiving information from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office about a possible sex crime that took place within the city's limits. During TPD's investigation detectives learned that while the suspect was babysitting the 6-year-old in 2010, he committed various sexual acts against the victim and gave her $60 to not tell anyone about the offense. Detectives conferred with the State Attorney's Office after conducting an extensive investigation and a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest. Detectives received information that the suspect was living in Palm Beach County when the SAO issued the arrest warrant. The police department's Fugitive Apprehension Unit coordinated with the US Marshals Task Force in Miami to arrest Mace at the floral shop where he works. Mace was taken into custody on February 26 without incident and is currently awaiting extradition back to Hillsborough County from the Palm Beach County jail.
