Tampa Police Fugitive Apprehension Team Arrest Man for Unlawful Sex Act with Student

SUSPECT: Dwight Levasiyea Ellick, B/M, 09/30/1982, 16327 Compton Palms Drive, Tampa

CHARGES: Unlawful Sex Act with a Minor

DETAILS: On June 8th, 2010, school officials contacted Tampa Police regarding a teacher involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. The suspect was involved in a sexual encounter with the student at his residence on June 4th. The student told friends about the sexual encounter and school officials heard about the act on June 8th and they contacted police. Through the investigation, detectives determined the teacher had a sexual encounter with the student. Tampa Police Detectives direct filed the case with the State Attorney's Office and they issued a warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested without incident at his residence. He will be booked into Orient Road Jail shortly. He is no longer employed as a teacher with the Hillsborough County School District.
