Tampa Police Investigate Hit & Run with Injuries

Location: Columbus Dr E. and Massachusetts Av N.

Victim Info: Benjamin York B/M DOB:4/20/64
5014 37th St N Tampa, Fl 33610

Suspect Info: B/M, 31 YOA, long dreads, 5'11", Dark Complexion, Last Seen Wearing: a brown jersey style shirt, black shorts and brown Timberland boots.

Suspect Vehicle Info: White Mercury with broken windshield and a broken tail light lens with red tape over the damage.
This vehicle was later located in the 7400 block of S. O'Brien.

Details: On the listed date and approximate time, officers responded to a hit and run with injuries at E. Columbus and N. Massachusetts. The victim was struck by the listed vehicle as the driver attempted to leave a party. The driver was involved in a fight with several subjects at the party and he attempted to leave during the altercation. The victim then followed the driver to his car to calm him down, but as the driver fled from the scene, he struck the victim with the vehicle. The victim fell to the pavement and was then caught and dragged under the rear of the vehicle for approximately 420 feet before being dislodged, in the middle of Columbus Drive between Ola and Massachusetts Av.

The suspect then fled N/B on Ola Avenue in his vehicle. The victim was then transported to TGH where he was listed in stable condition. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
