Tampa Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

Victim #1 (Deceased): Larry Cotton, DOB: 1/31/1974
Victim #2: Frances Helms, DOB: 8/29/1959
Tampa Police officers are searching for the suspect(s) involved in a shooting that left one man dead and a female victim injured. Officers responded to 1806 North Nebraska Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. on December 30 to investigate a shots fired call. When they arrived on scene they found Larry Cotton and Frances Helms suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Cotton later died as a result of his injuries. Helms is currently in stable condition.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating this case. Based on preliminary information, it appears that the shooting was not random.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting or who has information about this case to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
