Tampa Police Join "Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow" Traffic Safety Campaign
The Tampa Police Department is joining a statewide campaign to keep motorists and pedestrians safe. Starting on November 24, extra officers will patrol Tampa’s roadways to educate drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians about Florida’s traffic laws. During this 60-day educational phase, officers will issue warnings along with safety tips to violators. They will start issuing citations when the educational period ends.
The department’s goal is to reduce crashes by increasing awareness of traffic laws with motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
The traffic safety initiative is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s, “Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow” campaign. FDOT awarded the police department a contract to provide an increased police presence in high traffic areas in an effort to remind all roadway users to pay attention and follow the rules of the road.
