Tampa Police Officers Arrest Homicide Suspect

Location: 18th Street and 24th Avenue, Tampa

Victim: Carl R. Kidd 4-19-78

Suspect: Louie Phillip Cromartie 8-9-84

Details:
Detectives and R.O.C. (Rapid Offender Control) officers followed up on leads and identified the suspect. The suspect was located and charged with murder (1st degree), robbery (home invasion), felon in poss. firearm, trespass in occ. structure, battery (domestic violence), petit theft, and opposing an officer without violence. He was arrested on July 16th at 10:10 am in the area of 18th St. & 24th Ave. The defendant has an arrest record and prison history, which includes mostly narcotic offenses. His history can be viewed on the Department of Corrections and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office websites.

Location: 3402 N. Clay Street, Tampa

Victim: Carl R. Kidd 4-19-78

Suspect: Louie Phillip Cromartie 8-9-84

Details:
At 9:25 p.m. on Friday, July 15th, Tampa Police Officers responded to 3402 N. Clay Street in regards to a "shots fired call."

Responding officers entered the residence and located a 33 year old W/M who had been the victim of a homicide. Witnesses advised that the suspect in the shooting is a B/M, 5'9", 175 lbs., thin build and dark complexion.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are working on active leads.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending NOK notification. Additional updates will be provided, as they become available.
