Tampa Police Officers Arrest Sexual Battery Suspect

DATE/TIME: 6/17/2011 at 5:00 p.m.
SUSPECT: Charles Newbold, B/M, DOB 11/20/82, 1152 Ruby Street, Lakeland, FL
The sexual battery occurred on May 27th, 2011 where the victim was attacked inside her home. Her residence was a converted bus near the Historic Ybor District. Forensic Crime Scene Investigators recovered DNA at the crime scene. The DNA was submitted to the lab, and a match came back in the defendant's name. On June 17, 2011, the defendant was arrested at a gas station in Lakeland and charged with sexual battery and burglary. He has a lengthy criminal history, which include mostly narcotic offenses.

WHERE: The area of 16th Street and 6th Avenue East
WHEN: 05/27/2011, 7:30 a.m.
VICTIM: 24 year old white female.
SUSPECT: Black male, 6' - 6'2". He has a dark complexion, short beard, last seen wearing a light blue shirt and tan shorts.
The victim was in her home, which is a renovated bus. The suspect entered the bus and sexually battered the victim. The victim has been taken to the Nurse Examiner's Office and detectives are investigating. TPD has an extensive search for the suspect.
Officers are making progress in the investigation. They are following active leads and have released a computer generated composite of the suspect. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information about the crime is urged to call the Tampa Police Department at 813 231-6130.
