Tampa Police Officers have arrested Mario Williams in connection with the 9/26/11 shooting at 1502 West Union Street

TPD received a tip that the suspect was staying at the Extended Stay, 1805 North Westshore Boulevard. The Tampa Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Team and the US Marshals Florida Regional Task Force arrested the suspect at the hotel in room 205. He was arrested without incident. Officers in the area noticed a man matching the other suspect’s description, Robert Lee Fletcher. When he saw the officers, he took off on his bike. Officers set up a perimeter and searched for the man. Jefferson High School was on lock down during the search. Officers did not locate the man.

Mario Williams is on his way to Orient Road Jail.

VICTIM 1: Latavia Ash, B/F, 04/13/08, 1502 West Union Street, Tampa

VICTIM 2: Jerome Parks, B/M, 10/23/89, 1501 West Main Street, Tampa

SUSPECT 1: Robert Lee Fletcher, B/M, 9/13/91

SUSPECT 2: Mario Williams, B/M, 7/12/83

VEHICLE: 90's model burgundy Buick LeSabre, tinted windows

DETAILS: The suspects pulled in front of the victim as he stood outside 1502 West Union Street. Fletcher exited the vehicle with a pistol and chased the victim, firing shots. The suspect chased the victim through the apartment. The victim ran out the front door, fleeing west. The suspect ran back to the waiting vehicle and fled the scene. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds. The three year old victim underwent surgery last night and doctors removed a bullet from her right leg near the knee. Both victims are in good condition. Jerome Parks was the intended target and the child was caught in the gunfire.

The two suspects have warrants for their arrests for attempted 2nd degree murder and aggravated battery.
