TAMPA, FLA. (December 21, 2018)— The Tampa Police Department gave Santa some help, while his reindeer prepared for their big night.   A police motorcade led Santa’s sleigh to Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School at 12:30 p.m. on December 21.  They were greeted by hundreds of students and faculty members who stood in front of the school eagerly waiting for their arrival.

The grand entrance was all part of the 16th Annual Sulphur Springs Holiday Gift Exchange, which provides gifts for all students and teachers at the school each year.  The late Carla Lewis, a longtime City of Tampa employee and community leader, coordinated the holiday event along with a team of generous sponsors and volunteers for the past 15 years.  In the spirit of continuing this gift giving tradition, numerous organizations and individual volunteers came together to deliver more than 1,000 gifts at the school in Carla’s honor.

Carla Lewis passed away from cancer on July 26, 2018.
