Tampa Police Searching for Suspect in Attempted Child Abduction

WHEN: May 11, 11:45 a.m.
WHERE: 8000 Block of North Albany Avenue, Tampa
VICTIM: 9-year-old, W/F
SUSPECT: W/M, 20-30, 5’9-5’11, short brown hair, light facial hair, higher tone voice, earring in right ear, class ring with a green jewel
LAST SEEN WEARING: Black basketball shorts with red and white on the sides, white tank top
DETAILS: The victim first saw the suspect in her grandparent’s backyard which is next door to her own home. She turned around to pick up some items and that’s when the suspect surprised her, grabbed her arm and asked her to take him to a specific location. She screamed, pulled her arm away and ran inside her home. She told her mother what happened. The mother jumped in car and tried to search for the suspect before calling 911. The victim was not injured. Tampa police ROC officers, patrol and K-9 officers are searching for the suspect in the city. Officers are also checking area businesses for any surveillance video. Anyone who sees someone matching the suspect’s description is asked to call 911.
