Tampa Police Seek Public's Help to Identify Homicide Suspect

DATE: 11/5/11, 3:45a.m.

LOCATION: Salem Gyro Shop, 1611 N. Nebraska Avenue, Tampa

VICTIM: Hipolito Padilla III DOB: 12/18/85, B/M, 14623 43rd Street, Tampa, Florida

SUSPECT DESCRPTION: B/M, 20-30 years old, thin to medium build, thick growth black beard, last seen wearing a camouflage jumpsuit with a red shirt under the jumpsuit and a white knit cap. He was armed with a handgun.

DETAILS: The suspect walked up to the victim who was standing in the drive-thru window of the Salem Gyro Shop talking to friends. The suspect shot him in the upper body. The victim was transported to a Tampa hospital where he died from his injuries. The shop's surveillance camera captured video of the suspect fleeing on foot toward Nebraska Avenue. Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813 231-6130. Detectives are still working to determine why the shots were fired.
