Details:
Shortly after 1:00am, two suspects walked into the CVS on South Howard Avenue and pointed a gun at a customer's chest telling him to leave the store. The customer fled to his car and immediately called 911. His call came in at 1:16 a.m. The suspects then robbed a clerk at gunpoint. She complied, but the suspects became increasing aggressive when she was unable to open additional registers. They dragged her around the store attempting to force her to open registers. When they released her, the clerk was able to hide in a back room and call 911. The suspects grabbed a manager and violently dragged her through the store as well trying to access cash registers.

When the first responding officers arrived at the scene, one of the suspects was exiting the CVS through the front door. The officers told the suspect to get on the ground, but he did not comply. Both officers fired and the suspect was shot at least once. He then fled on foot for approximately two blocks. Officers took him into custody at Moody Avenue and W. De Leon Street at 1:23 a.m. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is listed in stable condition. The second suspect fled out the back door of the CVS in an unknown direction. An extensive search for the second suspect is underway. Air Service, TPD K-9, HCSO bloodhound, Patrol Officers and plain clothes officers known has ROC Officers are all involved in the manhunt.

One of the officers involved in the shooting was transported to the hospital for observation, but is in good condition.

Road closures: Moody Avenue from Swan Avenue to W De Leon Street will remain closed this morning for the police investigation. W. De Leon Street from Moody Avenue to Armenia Avenue is also closed for the investigation.

The names of the involved officers will also be released. Per policy, they are both on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated. Also mandated by policy, three investigations are conducted simultaneously by the State Attorney's Office, Internal Affairs and Homicide.
