WHAT:          Tampa Police officers will take part in a city-wide Halloween operation

WHEN:          October 31, 2018 beginning at 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:       Various neighborhoods

Trick-or-treaters can expect to see a significant police presence in Tampa neighborhoods during Halloween.  Chief Brian Dugan launched the “Trick-or-Treat with a Cop” initiative in 2017.

This year, Chief Dugan expanded the initiative to neighborhoods citywide.  Officers will take to the streets on foot, two-wheels, and even horseback in residential areas where trick-or-treaters are known to frequent.  In addition to keeping a watchful eye, officers will hand out candy to the little ghouls and goblins they meet while on patrol.

Residents can now also ‘tweet-along’ with Tampa Police officers on Halloween using the hashtag #TweetsOnPatrol.  The department teamed up with the Alexandria Police Department in Virginia to host the virtual law enforcement ride along on Twitter.
