Tampa Police Work with Hillsborough County Animal Services to Arrest Suspect

SUSPECT: Bernard Marsonek, DOB: 3/14/1956, W/M, 8125 N. Marks Street, Tampa
CHARGES: Felon in Possession of a Firearm (2 counts), Animal Cruelty and Sexual Activity Involving Animals
Tampa Police officers responded to 8125 North Marks Street after being flagged down by witnesses who observed the suspect engaged in a sexual act with a mixed breed dog inside his yard. When officers arrived on scene they were greeted by a small crowd of residents who were disturbed by their neighbor's activity with the dog. Several of the witnesses stated that they yelled at the suspect to stop, but he ignored their commands. The officers located the suspect inside of his house and started interviewing him. Hillsborough County Animal Services also responded to the scene and executed a search warrant at the suspect's home. During the search, Tampa Police officers seized a gun along with ammunition from the suspect who is a convicted felon. Animal Service investigators took custody of eight mixed breed dogs that were located on the suspect's property.
Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, officers worked with Animal Services to arrest Marsonek for cruelty to animals and illegal gun possession charges.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
