Temporary Lane Closure on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to begin March 4, 2019 for Driveway Construction

Tampa, FL (March 6, 2019) – A portion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Dale Mabry Highway and Air Cargo Road will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Friday, March 8, 2019 for driveway construction.  A private contractor will be installing a new driveway on the north side of W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard for property at 4201 W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard.  One (1) westbound lane on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Clark Avenue and N Thatcher Avenue will close beginning on March 8, 2019.

 

Westbound lane and eastbound traffic on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Clark Avenue and N Thatcher Avenue will be maintained on the south side of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at all times during construction, with delays.

 

The sidewalk on the north side of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Lois Avenue and N Thatcher Avenue will be closed during construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

 

All lanes on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between N Clark Avenue and N Thatcher Avenue will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Westbound motorists can use W Tampa Bay Boulevard or W Hillsborough Avenue between N Dale Mabry Highway and Air Cargo Road in lieu of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
