Temporary Lane Closure of Jackson Street and Jefferson Street to begin July 20, 2017 for Utility Construction
Phase 2 of the TECO Washington Street Substation Upgrade Project will begin at 7 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Phase 1 construction work on the southeast corner of Jackson Street and Pierce Street is scheduled to be completed by 5 am on July 20, 2017, weather permitting.
A portion of Jackson Street between Pierce Street and Jefferson Street and a portion of Jefferson Street between Kennedy Boulevard and Washington Street will close at 7 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2017, as part of the Phase 2 work. The TECO subcontractor will be working in the existing manhole at the southwest corner of Jackson Street and Jefferson Street. The bike lane on Jackson Street between Pierce Street and Jefferson Street and one (1) southbound lane on Jefferson Street between Kennedy Boulevard and Washington Street will close nightly, Monday through Friday, from 7 pm to 5 am beginning on July 20, 2017. It is anticipated that this phase of construction work will be completed by 5 am on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Phase 3 will follow the completion of the Phase 2 work with weeknight lane closures on Jackson Street and on Pierce Street.
It is anticipated that these three phases of the TECO upgrade project will be completed and all lanes will be open to traffic by 5 am on Saturday, August 5, 2017.
The City recommends using alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
