Temporary Lane Closure on Old Water Street to begin on September 12, 2018 for Private Construction
A portion of Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Morgan Street will close on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 as part of the for the JW Marriott project. A private contractor will be installing a support foundation on the south side of Old Water Street on private property for a future overhead pedestrian walkway that will connect the Marriot Waterside hotel to the new JW Marriott hotel.
One (1) eastbound curb lane on Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Morgan Street will close at 9 am beginning on September 12, 2018.
One (1) eastbound lane and one (1) westbound lane of traffic on Old Water Street between S Franklin Street and S Morgan Street will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.
The sidewalk on the south side of Old Water Street directly in front of the hotel will also be closed during the construction. Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.
It is anticipated that the eastbound lane on Old Water Streeet in front of the Marriot Waterside hotel will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid congestion.
