Temporary Lane Closure of Plant Avenue to begin December 16, 2016 for Utility Construction

Tampa, FL (December 15, 2016) – A portion of Plant Avenue from Cleveland Street to Grand Central Avenue will be closed on Friday, December 16, 2016 for utility construction.  TECO contractor will be staging a crane on Plant Avenue between Cleveland Street and Grand Central Avenue to upgrading the TECO substation on the corner of Plant Avenue and Cleveland Street.  One (1) lane of Plant Avenue will be closed from Cleveland Street to Grand Central Avenue beginning at 9 am on Friday, December 16th.  It is anticipated that the lane will reopen to traffic by 8pm on Sunday, December 18, 2016, weather permitting.

On Saturday, December 16, 2016 between the hours of 9 am and 11 am, the intersection of Plant Avenue, Brorein Street/Cleveland Street and the Selmon Expressway Hyde Park Avenue Westbound Exit 5 off-ramp will be temporarily closed as equipment is delivered and off-loaded into the TECO substation.  Tampa Police Officers will be at the intersection of Plant Avenue, Brorein Street and the Selmon Expressway Hyde Park Avenue Westbound Exit 5 off-ramp to assist with traffic control during the intermittent intersection closure times.

The City recommends using alternative northbound routes to avoid traffic congestion.
