Temporary Lane Closure on S Florida Avenue and Channelside Drive to begin April 15, 2019 for Building Maintenance

 

A portion of S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and Channelside Drive and Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will close daily beginning on Monday, April 15, 2019 for building maintenance.  A City contractor will stage a lift on S Florida Avenue and on Channelside Drive to make modifications to concrete façade on the South Regional Parking Garage.  The maintenance will be completed in two (2) phases.

 

Phase 1:  One (1) northbound through lane and one (1) northbound right turn lane on S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and Channelside Drive will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on April 15, 2019.  One (1) northbound through lane on S Florida Avenue adjacent to the South Regional Parking Garage will remain open for traffic during construction, with delays.

 

Sidewalks on the east side of S Florida Avenue between Old Water Street and Channelside Drive and on the south side of Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will be closed during the construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage.

 

All lanes on S Florida Avenue adjacent to the South Regional Parking Garage will open to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, April 19, 2019, weather permitting.

 

Phase 2:  One (1) eastbound through lane and one (1) eastbound right turn lane on Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019.  Two (2) eastbound through lanes on Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will remain open for traffic during construction, with delays.

 

Sidewalks on the south side of Channelside Drive between S Florida Avenue and S Morgan Street will be closed during the construction.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks with signage. 

 

All lanes on Channelside Drive adjacent to the South Regional Parking Garage will reopen to traffic by 4 pm on Friday, April 26, 2019, weather permitting.

 

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
