Temporary Lane Closure S Himes Avenue to begin June 15, 2020 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Monday, June 15, 2020 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will install a gas service line across S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and S Randall Street to serve a business located on the east side of S Himes Avenue. 


The southbound lane on S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and the CSX Railroad Crossing will close at 9 am on June 15, 2020.  Southbound traffic will be maintained in the center auxiliary lane on S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and the CSX Railroad Crossing at all times during construction, with delays.


All lanes on S Himes Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and the CSX Railroad Crossing will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, weather permitting. 


The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Southbound motorists can use S Dale Mabry Highway or S MacDill Avenue between W Euclid Avenue and W Gandy Boulevard, in lieu of S Himes Avenue.
