Temporary Lane Closure S Himes Avenue to begin March 19, 2019 for Utility Construction

A portion of S Himes Avenue between W Azeele Street and W Kennedy Boulevard will close daily from 9 am to 4 pm beginning on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 for utility construction.  A utility contractor will install underground utilities on S Himes Avenue between W Roland Street and W Kennedy Boulevard. 

The northbound left turn lane on S Himes Avenue between W Roland Street and W Kennedy Boulevard will close at 9 am on March 19, 2019.   Left turn movements for northbound motorists on S Himes Avenue at the intersection at W Kennedy Boulevard will be prohibited during construction.  Northbound motorists wanting to turn left on W Kennedy Boulevard will be detoured north on N Himes Avenue to W Cypress Street, west on W Cypress Street to N Dale Mabry Highway, and south on N Dale Mabry Highway to W Kennedy Boulevard.

S Gunlock Avenue at S Himes Avenue will also be closed during construction.

Sidewalks in the construction area will be closed.  Pedestrians will be detoured to other available sidewalks in the area with signage.

All lanes on S Himes Avenue will be open to traffic by 4 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, weather permitting. 

The City recommends using alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.  Northbound motorists can use S Dale Mabry Highway between W Azeele Street and W Kennedy Boulevard in lieu of S Himes Avenue.
