Temporary Lane Closure of S MacDill Avenue to begin March 13, 2018 for Drainage Improvements
A portion of S MacDill Avenue between W Gandy Boulevard and W Euclid Avenue will close beginning Tuesday, March 13, 2018 as part of the Fair Oaks Stormwater Extension project . A City contractor will be installing drainage improvements and curbing on the southeast corner of S MacDill Avenue at the intersection of W Fair Oaks Avenue. The northbound lane on S MacDill Avenue between W Chapin Avenue and W Fair Oaks Avenue will close daily between 9 am and 3:30 pm beginning March 13, 2018.
Northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained intermittently in the southbound lane during construction, with delays.
One (1) lane on W Fair Oaks Avenue between S MacDill Avenue and S Bartlett Street will also close during a portion of the work. Eastbound and westbound traffic on W Fair Oaks Avenue between S MacDill Avenue and S Bartlett Street will be maintained intermittently, with delays.
During construction, the sidewalk on the east side of S MacDill Avenue between W Chapin Avenue and W Fair Oaks Avenue will be closed. Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area at all times.
It is anticipated that all lanes on S MacDill Avenue between W Chapin Avenue and W Fair Oaks Avenue and W Fair Oaks Avenue between S MacDill Avenue and S Bartlett Street will reopen by 3:30 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018, weather permitting.
The City of Tampa recommends that motorist use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion. Northbound and southbound motorists can use S Himes Avenue or Bayshore Boulevard between W Gandy Boulevard and W Euclid Avenue. Northbound and southbound trucks can use S Dale Mabry Highway between W Gandy Boulevard and W Bay to Bay Boulevard.
