Temporary Lane Closure on W Palm Avenue to begin February 3, 2020 for Road Construction

A portion of W Palm Avenue between North Boulevard and N Tampa Street/N Florida Avenue will close on Monday, February 3, 2020, as part of The Heights Development project.  A private contractor will be constructing a roundabout at the intersection of W Palm Avenue and N Highland Avenue.  The work will be completed in two phases.

During Phase 1, the contractor will be constructing the roundabout on the south side of Palm Avenue at N Highland Avenue. The eastbound lane on W Palm Avenue between N Ola Avenue and N Tampa Street will close at 9 am on February 3, 2020.  One (1) westbound lane of traffic will be maintained at all times during construction, with delays.

N Highland Avenue between W Oak Avenue and W Palm Avenue will close at 9 am on February 3, 2020.

It is anticipated that Phase 1 construction will be completed on Friday, April 3, 2020, weather permitting.

Phase 2 construction to begin immediately following the completion of Phase 1.  During Phase 2, the contractor will be constructing the roundabout on the north side of Palm Avenue at N Highland Avenue. The eastbound lane on W Palm Avenue between N Ola Avenue and N Tampa Street will continue to be closed.  One (1) westbound lane of traffic on W Palm Avenue will be shifted to the completed section of roundabout on the south side of W Palm Avenue at N Highland Avenue.

N Highland Avenue between W Ross Avenue and W Palm Avenue will close on April 3, 2020.

The sidewalk within the work area will be closed during construction.  Pedestrian access will be maintained via signage to other sidewalks in the area, during construction.

All lanes on W Palm Avenue between N Ola Avenue and N Tampa Street are scheduled to reopen by 4 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, weather permitting.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
